Welcome to Bath, the city named after a form of washing. Bath may be famous for its hot water springs and Roman Baths that gave its name and beautiful architecture, but it also boasts a vibrant startup scene.
In a city of stunning buildings, Bath’s Royal Crescent is perhaps its most famous example of Georgia architecture. It was built in 1774 and forms part of Bath’s circus, a famous street which is the same diameter as Stonehenge and is said to represent the sun.
It is also the city that inspired Mary Shelley to finish Frankenstein, a former home of Jane Austen, the city from whence the world’s first stamp was mailed, whilst one of its residential gardens provided the spot from where the planet Uranus was discovered.
Bath University was ranked the sixth-best university in the UK by the Guardian University Guide 2021, in the top ten for 13 subjects including Accounting and Finance, Architecture, Biosciences, Business, Management and Marketing, and Mechanical Engineering.
Bath University provides a Masters degree in Robotics Engineering; maybe this had helped create a degree of speciality in robotics in the region the Bath and Bristol region.
The city is also home to one of the UK’s leading publishers, Future Publishing which publishes more than 50 magazines.
